I created this project along with 3 other classmates in my Artificial Intelligence class. It is a variation on the game Pente called Keryo Pente. In our game you can only play against the computer. We named the computer AI Johnny. The part of the project that I helped out with the most was the AI's decision making. We basically looked at all the potential moves that could be made by Johnny this turn and 2 or 3 turns in the future and gave them a score. Then Johnny will choose the move that seemed to be most beneficial.
My favorite part about this project is that I had never heard of the game before, but yet, I had to decide what was a "good" move and exactly how "good" of a move it really was. I spent countless hours playing Pente online versus other AI's and other people to try and figure out good strategies and good board positions. After lots of tweaking of Johnny's decision tree, we had the finished project. Johnny now beats me more than I beat him...
